Artists Open Hearts for Lunch Break
Online Art Auction
April 29th-May 8th, 2022

Lunch Break will host its third annual online Artists Open Hearts for Lunch Break fundraiser April 29th-May 8th, 2022. Last year we raised more than $30,000 through the generosity of our talented arts community. The fundraiser helps to provide food security for so many of our neighbors who are struggling with financial burdens.

Proceeds from the art auction will benefit Lunch Break. A special preview event open to the public will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, May 6th and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 7th at Detour Gallery in Red Bank. For information, contact Development Manager Jill Govel-Gwydir at (732) 747-8577, Ext. 3107. Thank you for your support!

Blake Patterson, who reinvented the “segmented” wood-turning technique, is a self-taught artist. A true Renaissance man, Blake, a physicist, former Peace Corps volunteer and bassoonist for six orchestras and three bands, draws on his home-maintenance skills to improve the bowl-making process, along with ideas and advice from experienced turners. Some of the fun of turning bowls, he says, is creating “jigs” that make the process safer, faster, and more accurate. It takes Blake 10 to 30 hours to complete one bowl.
