JON STEWART TO HOST 2023 “CELEBRATING THE LEGACY” FUNDRAISER ON OCT. 20th

Executive Director Gwendolyn Love named recipient of the Norma Todd Service Award

Jon Stewart, host of the Apple TV+ series, “The Problem with Jon Stewart,” will once again host Lunch Break’s annual fall fundraising event on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 at TillingHouse at Sun Eagles in Eatontown. This year’s event, “Celebrating the Legacy,” in recognition of Lunch Break’s 40 years of community service, will honor Executive Director Gwendolyn Love.

Mrs. Love will be bestowed with the Norma Todd Service Award for 15 years of service to the financially struggling, food-insecure community members in Monmouth County and beyond.

“I am truly humbled by this incredible honor,” says Mrs. Love, commenting on the award, which is named for the late Norma Todd, who was among Lunch Break’s founding members and its first executive director. “But I share in this honor with our generous community members and dedicated volunteers, Board and staff, who, over the years, have given selflessly to our family members in need.”

Lunch Break turned 40 on March 14, 2023 — a far cry from the church food pantry established by Mrs. Todd and local leaders to alleviate hunger. Mrs. Todd’s call to action for helping the hungry in the community resulted in more than just a legacy of nourishment for those in need.

Forty years later hunger remains an even greater problem. Thanks to concerned community members, the foundation Mrs. Todd built for her beloved community has thrived and flourished, despite challenging global, national and local events. As long as hunger and poverty exist, so will Lunch Break.

The evening, which takes place from 6:30-11 p.m., will feature dinner, dancing, entertainment, raffles and auction of premium items and an opportunity to sponsor Lunch Break social service programs. Tickets are $400 per person; seating is limited. Sponsorship, ads and underwriting opportunities also are available. Contact Development Director Jill Gwydir-Govel at jgwydir@lunchbreak.org.
