In Recognition of Black History Month

Against enormous odds, from the centuries of slavery to the civil rights struggles of our time, African-American and black citizenry have made enormous contributions in the fields of science, medicine, social justice, government and politics, the arts and entertainment, religion and civil service, to name a few. We also recognize the leaders who have advocated non-violent initiatives in pursuit of equality and justice. Their ancestry and cultures, part of our nation’s fabric, are honored today in recognition of Black History Month. We must continue their efforts — no matter how great or small.
