Lunch Break Food Stock 2016

Rally Day 2016 April 7, 2016 7:27 pm

Lunch Break will hold its 5th Annual Foodstock, their largest food and fund drive, from March 1st- June 30th to create awareness about hunger in our community. The highlight of the event is Foodstock Rally Day which will take place on Saturday, May 14 at Monmouth Regional High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Foodstock is a very important event. It is a family and community day where hundreds of community members come together to drop off food and donate monies all in effort to help others. There will be games, music, and good eats.

“We depend on the success of Foodstock. Most people think of hunger in November and December”, said Millie Jeter, Administrative Director and event chair. “The fact is, the months of February right through October are difficult. Last year, we exceeded our annual budget for the purchase of food by 719%. We’ve increased our 2016 budget accordingly, but when you see that Lunch Break helped over 155,350 people last year, the reality is, we don’t see that number decreasing anytime soon- in fact, we see the need increase every day.”

“Many don’t realize that Lunch Break purchases the majority of our food- from national wholesalers, local retailers and from the food bank. It’s one of the biggest expenses every week, every month, every year,” said Gwendolyn O. Love, Executive Director.

This year, every $1 raised will equal 1 pound in the Foodstock Challenge to reach the 95,000 goal.

If any of your friends is unable to attend our Foodstock Rally Day Event, they can drop off the food at Lunch Break Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and on Saturday 9 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.

Please put this on your Website, Facebook and Twitter and ask your friends to do the same. Help us to alleviate hunger.
