Testimonials

Thank you for helping us provide help for today and hope for tomorrow.

Jonathan, Veteran & Lunch Break Guest

“I always walk into Lunch Break with a smile and a feeling that I have people that care about me.”

Grace LaFata, Volunteer

“Volunteering at Lunch Break gives me a sense of purpose, gratitude and connection with the community. When I’m serving a meal and can see you smile, that makes my heart happy.”

Celestine, Participant Lunch Break's Womyn's Worth

“This program helped me to identify areas of my life that needed improvement. I gained financial, nutritional, and spiritual information that I actively use in my day-to-day life 3 years later!!!”

Melanie, Volunteer

I think what impresses me most are the guests – those who need the most are sometimes the nicest – not only to the volunteers or staff, but to each other. I have watched countless doors held for the young mothers and older homeless people and I have watched the older people have their belongings carried in by other guests. I’ve seen people in the pantry turn down items to, “Leave it for someone who needs it,” even though they are entitled to it. I’ve been blessed to find Lunch Break and look forward to another year.”

Jennifer, Life Skills Graduate

Jennifer  has truly been an inspiration to me and her fellow Life Skills participants. She is the epitome of what is possible when you don’t give in or give up.” – Birgit Mondesire, Life Skills Program Manager

Trudy & Charlie, Donors & Volunteers

We have volunteered for many years for Lunch Break. One of our most meaningful experiences is our weekly food deliveries to the Pan American Motel in Eatontown. Each Monday morning we delivery upwards of 75 bags to over 40 rooms. We frequently encounter residents during this process, and are always touched by their sincere expressions of appreciation. Lunch Break truly makes a difference for each of these recipients.”
