HayLee C.’s path through the Life Skills Program is a powerful example of how access, preparation and determination can open doors to meaningful employment.
In August 2025, HayLee was accepted into the Life Skills Program, marking the beginning of an important new chapter. Shortly after, she took an active step toward her career goals by attending Life Skills’ Employment Preparation session on September 25, 2025. There, she built essential workplace skills and gained confidence navigating the job application and interview process.
With her sights set on a career in healthcare, HayLee applied for a Food and Nutrition position with Hackensack Meridian Health, through Life Skills. Her dedication paid off when she was invited to attend, and interview at a Life Skills-Hackensack Meridian Health Hiring Event Collaboration, on September 29, 2025. The event provided a supportive environment for participants to connect directly with employers and showcase their strengths.
Following her interview, HayLee received exciting news as she was offered a position at her desired location in Holmdel at Bayshore Medical Center. This achievement reflects not only her hard work, but also the impact of strong employer partnerships and comprehensive job readiness support.
Throughout her journey, HayLee also participated remotely in Life Skills Chrysalis III Orientation Program. This virtual option was made available for the first time to participants who had in-person impediments, ensuring that barriers did not stand in the way of growth and success. Haylee’s engagement in Life Skills Chrysalis III Orientation Program highlights how flexible programming can expand opportunity and inclusion.
HayLee’s story is one of perseverance, adaptability and progress. “HayLee is the kind of Life Skills participant who takes every opportunity provided and pursues it”. We are proud to celebrate her accomplishments and look forward to all that lies ahead, as she continues building a future filled with independence and purpose.
