Black History Month is a time to reflect on the rich history, achievements, and contributions of Black leaders, trailblazers, and everyday changemakers who have shaped our society. It is also a time to recognize the ongoing struggles and systemic barriers that continue to impact Black communities, particularly those facing economic hardships.

At Lunch Break, our mission is deeply rooted in the values of equity, compassion, and community empowerment. By providing food, clothing, and essential resources, we continue the legacy of Black leaders who fought for social justice, economic opportunity, and the right to basic human dignity.

The fight against poverty and hunger is intrinsically linked to the fight for justice. Throughout history, Black activists, from Frederick Douglass to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., emphasized the importance of economic empowerment and community support. Today, we honor that legacy by standing alongside the most marginalized, ensuring that everyone—regardless of race or background—has access to life’s most basic needs.

How You Can Honor Black History Month With Us:

💛 Volunteer: Join us in serving meals, distributing clothing, or supporting our outreach programs.
📚 Educate & Reflect: Learn about the historical and present-day challenges that Black communities face in food insecurity and economic inequality.

This Black History Month, let’s celebrate by taking action—lifting up those in need, fostering unity, and continuing the fight for equality, one act of service at a time.

Together, we build a stronger, more just community.
